Our Vanilla Pods are grown exclusively by smallholder farmers in the Kilimanjaro, Morogoro, and Kagera regions of Tanzania. Bourbon Vanilla Pods may develop a frosting of natural vanillin crystals over time and it indicates that the beans are high in natural vanillin which is proof of premium quality. These crystals are quite edible and provide an intense and deep flavor. The pods are dark-skinned, soft, and pliable – also a sign of high quality, which makes them easy to split and remove the tiny seeds.
